Neuromodulator Pre-Treatment

One Week Before Treatment:

Avoid Blood Thinners:

  • Refrain from taking aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen (Aleve), or other NSAIDs unless prescribed by your doctor.

  • Avoid supplements like fish oil, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, and St. John’s Wort, as they may increase bruising.

  • Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is acceptable if needed.

Limit Alcohol Consumption:

  • Avoid alcohol for at least 24–48 hours before your appointment to reduce the risk of bruising.

Day of Treatment:

Arrive with Clean Skin:

  • If you can, wash your face and remove all makeup, lotions, and other products.

Stay Hydrated:

  • Drink plenty of water to support your body and skin health.

Eat Normally:

  • Avoid coming to your appointment on an empty stomach to reduce the risk of feeling lightheaded.

Discuss Your Medical History:

  • Inform your provider of any recent illnesses, active infections, or medications you’re taking, including antibiotics or muscle relaxants.

  • Let them know if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a history of allergies.

Immediately After Neuromodulator Treatment:

Expect Mild Side Effects:

  • Temporary redness, swelling, or tenderness at the injection sites is normal and typically resolves within a few hours.

  • Bruising may occur but should fade within a few days.

Do Not Touch or Massage the Treated Areas:

  • Avoid rubbing, massaging, or applying pressure to the injection sites for at least 24 hours.

Avoid Makeup:

  • Skip makeup application for at least 4–6 hours to reduce the risk of infection or irritation.

First 24 Hours of Neuromodulator Treatment:

Stay Upright:

  • Avoid lying down or reclining for at least 4 hours after treatment to prevent product migration.

Avoid Strenuous Activities:

  • Skip intense exercise, heavy lifting, or activities that increase blood flow to your face.

Skip Alcohol and Blood Thinners:

  • Refrain from consuming alcohol or taking NSAIDs like aspirin or ibuprofen to minimize bruising and swelling.

Avoid Heat and Sun Exposure:

  • Stay away from saunas, hot tubs, tanning beds, or prolonged sun exposure, as heat can increase inflammation.

Post-Treatment

First Week Post Neuromodulator Treatment:

Avoid Facial Treatments:

  • Skip facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or laser treatments for at least one week to prevent disrupting the treatment.

Be Patient with Results:

  • Neuromodulators typically take 3–5 days to start showing results, with full effects visible within 10–14 days.
