Pre-Treatment

Avoid Sun Exposure:

Refrain from sun exposure for at least 2 weeks before your treatment. Tanning and sunburn can increase the risk of side effects. Use SPF 30 or higher daily in the weeks leading up to the procedure.

No Tanning Beds:

Avoid tanning beds or self-tanning products for 2 weeks before the treatment, as these can make your skin more sensitive and increase the risk of complications.

Stop Certain Medications:

Avoid using medications or supplements that may increase sensitivity or bleeding (e.g., aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, and other blood thinners) at least 5-7 days before treatment.

No Exfoliation:

Avoid using exfoliating products (e.g., scrubs, acids, or retinoids) for at least 5-7 days before the treatment to prevent irritation and increase the effectiveness of the treatment.

Avoid Waxing or Threading:

If you’re treating areas with hair (e.g., upper lip, chin), avoid waxing or threading for at least 2 weeks before your treatment.

Hydrate:

Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to the procedure to ensure your skin is well-hydrated.

Discuss Skin Conditions:

Inform your practitioner about any history of skin conditions, such as active acne, eczema, or rosacea, and any recent cosmetic treatments or chemical peels you’ve had.

Post-Treatment

Avoid Sun Exposure:

● After the treatment, avoid direct sun exposure for at least 2 weeks. Always use sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher and reapply frequently.

No Makeup for 24 Hours:

● Refrain from wearing makeup for at least 24 hours after the procedure to allow your skin to heal. Choose gentle, hydrating products once makeup is allowed.

Cool Compress:

● If you experience any discomfort, apply a cool compress to the treated area for relief.

Avoid Hot Showers and Saunas:

● For the first 24-48 hours, avoid hot showers, saunas, or any activity that causes excessive sweating, as this may irritate the treated skin.

Do Not Scratch or Pick:

● Avoid scratching or picking at the treated area, especially if you notice any flaking or scabbing. This can cause scarring or pigmentation changes.

Avoid Harsh Skincare:

● Do not use exfoliants, retinol, or products with active ingredients like AHAs or BHAs for at least 5-7 days. Stick to gentle, hydrating skincare products.

Hydrate:

● Drink plenty of water to help your skin recover.

Expected Side Effects:

● After the treatment, you may experience redness, swelling, or mild discomfort in the treated areas. These side effects typically subside within a few hours to a few days.

Monitor for Hyperpigmentation:

● In some cases, you may notice that sunspots or pigmented areas may darken in the first few days. This is a normal reaction, and the pigmented spots will naturally slough off within a few weeks.

Avoid Intense Exercise:

● Refrain from heavy exercise for 24-48 hours to reduce the risk of irritation or excessive heat exposure on the skin.
